Adding Marketing Pixels & Creating Retargeting Audiences

Marketing pixels on Bandsintown Pro are essential for helping you stay connected with your audience even after they leave your venue and event pages, retargeting visitors with tailored ads, stretching your spend further and increasing the chances of conversion.

This guide will walk you through adding marketing pixels to your Bandsintown venue and event pages and using them to create effective retargeting audiences.

Add your marketing pixel IDs to Bandsintown Pro

4. Click Save to confirm and activate your pixel integrations

Reference the below examples to ensure the correct formats are being used for each ID.

  1. Google Analytics 4 Measurement ID: ‘G-12ABCDE345F’

  2. Google Ads Tag ID: ‘12345678912’

  3. TikTok Ads Pixel ID: ‘ABC123XYZ456DEF789’

  4. X Ads Pixel ID: ‘a1b2c’

PLEASE NOTE: Changes may take up to 24 hours to be reflected on the platforms you’d like to integrate with.

Locating your pixel IDs

Google Analytics 4 Measurement ID

First, ensure you already have an established Google Analytics 4 property and a web stream of your venue. If you're new to Google Analytics, take a moment to set up a property before proceeding.

1. Access the data streams of your property: Head to the Data Streams section of the property you wish to connect.

2. Locate your web data stream: From the list of available streams, choose the web Data Stream you're using for your venue.

3. Find and copy your measurement ID: Navigate to the Web Stream details section and take note of your Measurement ID.

Google Ads Tag ID

First, ensure you have an active Google Ads account. If starting from scratch, create a Google Ads account before diving into the steps below.

1. Login to Google Ads: Access the Google Ads platform using your credentials.

2. Navigate to Tools & Settings: At the top right corner of your dashboard, find and click on the 'Tools & Settings' icon, resembling a wrench.

3. Access 'Setup’: In the unfolding menu, locate the 'Setup' section.

4. Select 'Google Tag': In the 'Setup' options, click 'Google Tag'.

5. Find Your Google Ads Tag ID: Within the ‘Configuration’ tag, your Tag ID should be displayed, presented as "AW-XXXXXXXXXX." Copy the digits portion only for this ID correctly.

TikTok Ads Pixel ID

First, ensure you have a TikTok Ads Manager account and TikTok Pixel. If you're starting fresh, set up a TikTok Ads Manager and TikTok Ads Pixel before proceeding with the steps below.

1. Log into your TikTok Ads Manager: Begin by accessing your TikTok Ads Manager with the appropriate credentials.

2. Navigate to Tools: Once logged in, you'll see a 'Tools' tab on the top menu. Click on it.

3. Click on 'Events': Within the dropdown menu of 'Tools', you should find 'Events' under the ‘Management’ list of options. This is where TikTok Pixels are managed.

4. Access Your Pixel: Here you'll see a list of your available Pixels. Click on the desired Pixel that you wish to integrate with Bandsintown Pro.

5. Identify and Copy Your Pixel ID: On this page, right below the Pixel's name, you should see your unique Pixel ID. Make sure to copy this ID correctly.

X Ads Pixel ID

First, ensure you have an X Ads Manager account and X Pixel. If you're starting fresh, set up a X Ads Account and X Ads Pixel before proceeding with the steps below.

1. Log into your X Ads Account: Begin by accessing your X Ads Account with the appropriate credentials.

2. Navigate to Tools: Once logged in, you'll see a 'Tools' tab on the top menu. Click on it.

3. Click on 'Events Manager': Within the dropdown menu of 'Tools', you should find 'Events Manager' option. This is where X Pixels are managed.

4. Access Your Pixel: Here you'll see a list of your available Pixels. Click on the desired Pixel that you wish to integrate with Bandsintown Pro.

5. Identify and Copy Your Pixel ID: On this page, right below the Pixel's name, you should see your unique Pixel ID. Make sure to copy this ID correctly.

Meta Ads Pixel ID

To set up the Meta Pixel and Conversions API, ensure you have a Meta Business Suite, Ad Account, and Meta Pixel. If you haven’t created these yet, follow Meta’s official setup guide before proceeding.

1. Go to Meta Events Manager.

2. Select Your Business Account: Ensure you’re managing the correct Meta Business Account.

3. Find Your Pixel ID: Under the Data Sources section, locate your Meta Pixel. Your Pixel ID is displayed beneath the Pixel name—copy this ID for integration.

4. Generate an Access Token for Conversions API: Click on your Pixel and navigate to the Settings tab. Scroll down to the Conversions API section. Under Set up manually, locate and click Generate Access Token. Copy this token immediately, as it won’t be shown again.

Your pixels are now active and will start tracking visitors to your Bandsintown Pro pages.

Creating Retargeting Audiences

First, add your marketing pixels into Bandsintown Pro before creating a retargeting audience.

Be sure to regularly monitor the performance of your retargeted ads and adjust your audience criteria as necessary for the best results.

Create a Retargeting Audience on Meta

Bandsintown Pro offers retargeting options based on fans’ interactions on the web as well as with email fan alerts. The maximum allowed data retention window is 180 days.

1. Visit the Meta Business Settings page

2. From the top left, click the menu icon and then select Audiences.

3. Click Create Audience and then Custom Audience from the dropdown.

4. Under Sources, choose Website to target users based on their interactions with websites where the pixel is installed or choose Offline Activity to target users based on their interactions with email alerts.

5. Name your new audience and define parameters for the visitors you want to retarget.

Recommended options for the Website source:

  • Combine your Bandsintown web visitors with your website and/or ticketing visitors into one audience.

  • Create a dedicated audience for all of your Bandsintown web visitors.

  • Create more granular audiences using parameter filters such as URL.

Recommended Options for the Offline Activity Source:

  • Create a dedicated audience that will collect all user data who have interacted with your email fan alerts.

  • Create more granular audiences using parameter filters such as venue_name, venue_id, event_id, event_date, email_event, email_category, artist_names, and event_title.

6. Click Create Audience after setting your desired criteria, and your retargeting audience will be saved and ready for use in your Meta ad campaigns.

Create a Retargeting Audience on Google Ads

1. Access your Google Ads account, click Tools & Settings, and choose Audience Manager from under Shared Library.

2. Click +, select Remarketing, and then choose Website Visitors. This will allow you to target users based on their interactions with websites where the pixel is installed.

3. Name your new audience and define parameters for the visitors you want to retarget.

Recommended options:

  • Combine your Bandsintown web visitors with your website and/or ticketing visitors in one audience.

  • Create a dedicated audience for Bandsintown web visitors.

c4. Once you're satisfied, hit Save. Your retargeting audience is now ready for use.

Create a Retargeting Audience on TikTok ads

1. Access your TikTok Ads Manager and click Tools on the top menu.

2. Find Audience Manager under the Audience list of options.

3. Click Create Audience towards the top left.

4. Select Custom Audience and then Website Traffic. This will allow you to target users based on their interactions with websites where the pixel is installed.

5. Name your new audience and define parameters for the visitors you want to retarget.

Recommended options:

  • Combine your Bandsintown web visitors with your website and/or ticketing visitors in one audience.

  • Create a dedicated audience for Bandsintown web visitors.

6. Once you're satisfied, hit Confirm. Your retargeting audience is now ready for use.

Create a Retargeting Audience on X/Twitter

1. Access your X Ads Account and click Tools on the top menu.

2. Click Audiences.

3. Click Create Audience towards the top right.

4. Select Website Activity. This will allow you to target users based on their interactions with websites where the pixel is installed.

5. Name your new audience and define parameters for the visitors you want to retarget.

Recommended options:

  • Combine your Bandsintown web visitors with your website and/or ticketing visitors in one audience.

  • Create a dedicated audience for Bandsintown web visitors.

6. Once you're satisfied, hit Create Audience. Your retargeting audience is now ready for use.
