Sending Promoted Emails
Updated over a week ago

Promoted Emails are a fast, easy, and affordable way for venues of all sizes to directly engage Bandsintown fans of specific artists or in specific areas with targeted emails using plug-and-play templates, helping you create awareness and drive sales.

Creating a campaign

From an Event

To promote a specific event, navigate to Home or Events and click Promote next to the event you’d like to create a campaign for.

You’ll be taken directly to the Audience selection window, where the artist and location of your event will be pre-populated. Leave as is or add additional artists and locations to target. Continue on to Step 4 below.

From the Ad Manager

From your Dashboard Home, navigate to the Ad Manager and click Create a Campaign.

Step 1: Choose a template

Select the type of campaign you’d like to create from the list of expert-designed templates, or start from scratch. You can edit and customize the design later with the drag-and-drop editor.

Step 2: Add your event details

Name your campaign, add performing artists, location and date, and set the date and time for the emails to be sent.

Step 3: Set your budget and target audience

Set the radius around the geographic location of the event you’d like to promote and choose similar artists whose fans you’d like to target.

Geotargeting will default to a 75-mile radius of the location of your event, but for larger events like festivals, targeting the entire state or country may make more sense.

Emails to Send shows how many emails can be sent based on a given targeting criteria and specified budget, while Max shows how many emails could potentially be sent with an unlimited budget.

Expand or reduce the radius or add more locations with the + button next to Add Audience.

Step 4. Customize your email

The left-hand navigation panel includes tabs to customize every aspect of the appearance and content of your email.

Appearance tab: Customize the background color or image of your email as well as the font, text size, alignment and color, line spacing, link color, and button design for each section. Adjust how your email displays on mobile devices in the Mobile Formatting section.

Content tab: Customize the layout of your email with preset structures which can be populated by dragging and dropping blocks for images or videos, text, buttons, ticket links, social links, spacers, HTML code and more.

Undo or redo actions using the arrows in the upper-right hand corner.

Step 5. Review and send

Review your campaign details, including budget, targeting and scheduled send time, and add any promotional credits you may have, or save the campaign to edit later.

Once your order is submitted, you'll receive a proof via email to approve before the campaign is sent out.

Step 6. Manage your campaigns

Easily view all of your drafted, scheduled, and sent email campaigns from the Campaigns tab in Ad Manager.

View, edit, duplicate, delete, and/or view insights for each campaign.

Step 7. Measure your success

Click the three dots next to any campaign and select Insights to view insights and analytics for each campaign. Insights can help you better understand what resonates with your audience to help you optimize future campaigns.

Draft Campaigns

If you’ve started building a campaign but aren’t quite ready to send it, you can save it as a draft and continue working later by clicking Save.

Pick up where you left off by navigating to Ad Manager, scrolling down to the Drafts list and clicking the three dots next to the campaign you want to edit or submit.

Edit Campaigns

To edit a campaign, navigate to the drafts list and click the three dots next to a campaign, select Edit Order, and pick up where you left off or make adjustments. When you’re done editing, you can submit the campaign or save it for later.

If you need to make changes to a campaign that has been scheduled but not delivered, you can reach out to an account manager or click the message box in the bottom right corner.

Duplicate Campaigns

You can duplicate an audience, campaign design, or both from any campaign in your Ad Manager including drafted, scheduled, and delivered campaigns. This will automatically select your previous preferences in a new campaign. You can edit each step along the way.

Campaign Stats

Click anywhere on a campaign in the sent list to view insights and analytics from each campaign. We recommend waiting 72 hours after your campaign has been delivered for the best results.
